About us

The South African Society of Psychiatrists (SASOP) promotes, maintains and honours the discipline of psychiatry. Established in 1952, we are the only professional body in South Africa that protects the rights of and acts in the best interest of our members. We serve our community by providing information and guidance on mental health, campaign to break the stigma and build on ensuring access to care for all.

 

SASOP is managed by a board of directors who is supported by an executive advisory committee and national council.
